President’s Welcome - November, 2007 Posted: 20071123 - To: All members A warm welcome to KW Water Polo families for the 2007-2008 season. I'd also like to extend a greeting to past members returning to KW as athletes in our newly expanded senior men's and women's program. A special thanks to former Inferno athletes Monica Blazon and Jake Pottier who have donned coaching shirts for us. Monika for our Atoms and Bantams and Jake for the Cadet boys. Congratulations to the KW athletes who joined the ranks of provincial and national teams this past summer to participate in competitions from Australia to the Czech Republic. A number of our athletes also participated in 'Camp Olympia' and 'Titan’s Camp' training programs during our summer break. Well Done! Information on summer programs will be available on our website in the spring. Practices, league days and tournaments are in full swing. Our coaches are all dedicated volunteers who spend incredible amounts of their time for our youth. Athletes will get the most they can from their experience in the club by showing the same commitment to the coaches and their teammates. Please attend practices on time and notify your coach of necessary absences. Practice and play can be fun even while showing respect and a positive attitude at all times. Several fund raising events are underway to help our club with some of the expenses not covered with the registration fees. Much needed funds can be raised through chicken and flower sales as well as helping at Bingo sessions; now at the new Krug Plaza site. Participation in these events will also help families earn back their fund raising credits. There will be opportunities during the year for all members and families to become involved with club. Thanks to all those who signed up during our registration day for various activities. Team managers and board members will be contacting you as needed. These individuals are always available to answer your questions or hear your suggestions. We ask everyone to support our efforts of improving communications by checking your e-mails regularly and responding promptly. We are implementing some major changes to the website to help get 'News items'’ and other club information out to our members. This includes coach's messages, practice cancellations, tournament schedules and fund raising or volunteer events. In order for this to work we need everyone to check the site on a regular basis. We will send out a notice when the new site is up and running! We are all here to support a club that enriches the lives of its members in many ways, from providing physical fitness with the values of sportsmanship, team and social interaction, and the opportunity for competition and travel.
