 KW Bantam Winter Classic lived up to all expectations of being a special event for all!Posted: 20081219 Once again the KW Bantam Winter Classic lived up to all expectations of being a special event for all: participants, visitors and volunteers. On Saturday November 29th 10 teams from Ontario descended on KW to face their fellow water polo combatants at the Waterloo Memorial Complex. The KW Inferno A team proved to be just that; as our Inferno A team ended the tournament undefeated. It was an action packed schedule in this one day event for our A players, but in the end they prevailed both in and out of the pool. Congratulations to all! At 12:30 pm on Sunday our AA team dawned the pool for a game against their archrivals from Ottawa. Both teams were undefeated up to this point in the tournament. As the game began you could feel the energy in the air. Each team answered a goal against themselves with one of their own. It was not until the dying moments of the game that Ottawa scored the final goal to win the game 8 to 7. The KW Inferno AA team displayed true grit and character as they finished the tournament with only one loss. Congratulations to all! There were 29 total games played in our tournament. Without the contributions and support of dedicated volunteers, the tournament would not have been as successful as it was. Special thanks must be given to our up and coming referees who enrolled in the referee clinic and still found time to volunteer on deck with a variety of tasks. This truly is what it is 'all about'. Lastly, to Paul and Alain, you are an inspiration to not only our players but to all those who aspire to learn the game of water polo. For this we sincerely thank you.
