A Message to all Club Members
I have been asked by a number of club members how the fundraising credits system works.
The club has a fundraising commitment of $175 per family. This is paid in two cheques, the first for $100 dated January 1st and the second for $75 is dated April 1st.
The club organizes a number of fundraising activities during the year. These are all voluntary. If club members choose to participate the $$ credits that they earn reduces the $175 that they owe. Some members participate so actively that they earn more than $175 and use the surplus to help pay for major events. If you want to draw on your credits please contact me and I will make a payment to you by cheque.
When we organize a fundraiser the executive decides how much of the “profit” will be allocated to the members participating and how much will be retained by the club. We try to be very clear on this allocation at the beginning of each activity. Some fund raisers have very small profit margins and we have kept all of the profit for the club. Please keep in mind that our first goal is to raise money to help is pay our bills. Our secondary goal is to provide an opportunity to allow club members to help decrease their expenses by earning credits to offset their commitment.
I keep a ledger of how much everyone has earned. On January 1st I check to see who has already raised $100 or more. If you had earned more than $100 on January 1st I ripped up your cheque. I will follow the same criteria on April first. Those members who have $175 or more in their account will have their $75 cheque ripped up. (Adjustments are made for members who have joined the club partly through the year.)
If anyone has any questions or wishes to know the status of their account please e-mail me or phone me at 578-1458. I strive to be 100% accurate but mistakes can be made. There is a lot to keep track of here! If you think I have made an error or omission please let me know and I will strive to make corrections as soon as possible.
Yours truly,
Peter Welsman
