August 2005 – Travel Funding Information

The funds raised through Bingo help to reduce tournament fees and subsidize player travel expenses and training camps.  The club offsets the cost of travel through a donation to each player on the traveling team.  The cost of a trip is typically calculated by dividing the total

expenses by the number of players attending::

The club normally contributes $1,000 off the top.  The remainder of the expenses are divided by the number of players attending.

Costs may be further reduced (prior to the division amongst the players if we are able to get any grants.  In past these have been provided by:

Keeping this in mind, we appreciate your support in Easter Bunny Sale,s which we do in return support for the Lions Clu,b as well as occasional highway clean-ups of litter.

In addition, the club helps to subsidize players who attend training camps that are offered throughout Ontario.  These amounts are determined per case and are dependent upon the fees for the camp.  We want to ensure that the process remains as fair as possible; to give as much financial support as is realistic for the club’s financial situation, which will change from year to year.   Our priority is to the athletes and their ability to participate in this sport at a reasonable cost.  Should you have any questions regarding funding and travel expenses, please speak with your coach, or a member of the executive.

When athletes participate in one-day tournaments, close to home, rides are usually organized on an informal basis between the parents and the coach.  It is expected that parents will negotiate with each other any costs for gas (i.e. chip in for gas money).  At times, however, a coach will ask a parent to assist with driving to a tournament across Ontario.  In these situations, the club will help reimburse for gas expenses.
